Question 3 boars cage size dilemma

Ok so right now I have 2 boars in a 2x4 cc cage and they are perfectly happy in there. Recently I have rerescued another boar from a pet store. (Dont yell I had my reasons see tge forum on him) any way right now he is in quarentine. We are plannong on making the cc into 2x6. However, we are planning on moving and in our current apartment. We have no room for a bigger cage. Should I wait to introduce them until we move or should I attempt it and see how it goes?

Yea, sorry I read your post wrong the first time. They are going to be going through a move and changes regardless if you introduce them or not. So, I guess I would just introduce them. Are they all full grown? Because the cage saze might be a little small but it's only temporary..

So 2 are not yet full grown. I think you could get away with the 2X4 for a month or so.

Thank you so much for your quick response. I just hated the thought of Nyles being by himself for that long.

I just got my 3rd girl piggy and they are all in a 2X4 with an L shaped upper level. I'm planning on upgrading it in January but they are fine in what I have for now.

Re: 3 boars cage size dilemma

I'd wait till you can make a bigger cage, because since Harvey and Waffles are younger then a year they're most likely going through or a going to go through puberty and it's tricky time with-out introducing another boy.

I wouldn't risk it, just wait a month till you have the proper sized cage.

No problem. I know I love the introductions I think it's fun. However, I only have females and males can be different (besides the obvious, ) and I'm not super experienced with piggies. Fick2010 says to wait so now it's a split response, . We need a tie breaker.

I'd wait until after the move. Since quarantine should be 3 weeks anyways. No point to introduce them in 3 weeks and after a week you'll have to move them.

Boars are very territorial. Putting 3 boars in a 2x4 will likely cause problem, plus two of them are starting their teenage stage.

When you've got two of them approaching the terrible teens, combined with the stress of a new pig, combined with the stress of moving home, combined with the stress of a new cage, I'd personally advise leaving introductions until you've settled in your new place.

You need a large cage, as you've said you plan on building, for males, especially for males going through puberty, and even more so when two are already bonded, going through puberty, and adding another one in.

Just make sure you take all the proper introductory precautions, and that the cage is fully prepped for the dominance battle that occurs between males, as well as making changes to the cage beforehand to make the new living situation smoother on them

I agree wait until you move. I have 3 boars in a 2x7, even thought they are all fully grown things can still be tricky with them.

I've got 2 boars on a 3x4 cage and they are pretty content.

You need to wait out the quarantine anyways, so wait to introduce them until you move. Its too much stress to introduce them all, then separate them all while you are moving and then introduce them all again.

I go into my cage from the side.. Is your cage between two things?

We just made access to both the front and the back of the cage so I can move the whole cage and clean from all sides

If you put casters/rollers on the base of the cage, you can just roll the cage out when you need to clean it

Yes it is with the lack of space I currently have.
