Question What's the best way to give antibiotics?

The vet really didn't go into that, and I didn't think of it until I got home. Both boys have possible URIs (lungs are clear, heart sounds good, but lots of sneezing and some lethargy) and were put on cherry flavored liquid stuff. Are they just gonna gobble this up, or is it going to be like bribing a 2 year old with ice cream to take their meds? Thank you!

P.s. Just in case you were wondering, the antibiotic is Sulfamethoxazle & Trimethiprim 240 mg/5 ml & they get half a ml twice daily.

My boys like their Bactrim. But the easiest way I've found is to hold them with their back to my chest. Put the syringe in their mouth, then squirt the meds in. Just make sure you have the syringe in their mouth, otherwise you'll get a good mess. :)

I'm still looking for suggestions. One of my boys takes it like a champ with a little coaxing, the other one squirms and fights to get away. He does not like at all, and just bit me to get the point across, and he never bites! Anyway, advice please.. I know some of you have gone through this. What worked?

Thank you, @SamIAm ! For some reason your reply didn't show up until I asked for advice again. ;)

What's the best way to give antibiotics?

I just went through 2 weeks of giving my gp (Ferb) antibiotics for a URI. He hated it and fought like crazy to get away. I wrapped him in a dish towel from his neck to feet and held him cradled in my left arm with his back against my upper arm and my hand wrapped around his body. So he was basically semi-reclined along my arm. As long as his feet were wrapped and he didn't feel like he could get them free he stayed still. I found I had to get the syringe behind his front teeth so I went in at an angle. And then he got treats and I told him he was a good boy afterwards. By the end of the first week he was kind of resigned to it and knew he would get a fresh veggie afterwards.

Well my Basil sprained her left leg after tripping over a chew toy, I tried to give her her anti-inflammatory meds via syringe, and when I quickly found out that wasn't going to work out, I squirted the medicine into a piece of lettuce, folded it in half (like a taco), hand fed it to her, and she ate it and the meds, no problem.
