Guinea Pig on the Today Show!

Link goes to a video on what have been polled as "low maintenance pets" by Vets and pet store owners. She gives reasonably responsible information on piggies, I think.

    Low maintenance? Pfft.
"Guinea pig's are great because if your kids want something furry and fluffy to squeeze, this is the pet to get".

No, don't squeeze the piggy! Did anyone else feel sorry for the poor guy when Kathy Lee was shoving the carrot in his mouth?!

I think that was a poor choice of words, but I don't think she meant it.

And yes, I did cringe when she was trying to feed it! But I think that's the kind of awkward thing that happens on morning shows. Its like they're instructed to be awkward...

Yeah, I'm sure she meant to say "cuddle."

I greatly dislike those two, I find them so annoying especially right in the morning.

Uh, birds aren't as easy as it seems, unless you don't care if it lives a long life. Like gps, they require a lot of room. They are not decoration in a cage to sit all day. I see they have the cute gp in a store bought cage. I'm sure they aren't mentioning that it and the cage shown should really be carriers. I couldn't go beyond 30 seconds. I'm sure the bird is munching on seeds too.. :/

This "fluffy to squeeze" really pains me. Yesterday while picking up some pigs, we learnt that there were six pigs but while holding one of them their daughter squeezed her to death...and the owners just laughed about it...

Actually she did! She said they need 4.5 sq ft per pig and that it was in a travel cage.

Glad to hear something was correct. I have never seen anything on tv that shows the true proper care of exotics aside from some reptiles. I mainly mean birds since that has been my interest for over 20 years. I would love to put some of these folks who claim to be experts and talking on tv in a small closet and give them junk food and little attention... :s
