You can tell by looking through the bag if it is good hay or not. You should even be able to open the bag, its a simple plastic thingy. I always check my hay before I buy, and if it looked brown in the bag, you shouldn't have bought it. Maybe they were all like that, I don't know. I wasn't there in the situation, but the bags are relatively clear.

I had to buy Oxbow at the store while waiting for my KMS to get here. The 2nd bag looked just like this. None of the bags looked good, but I had to buy hay since I was all out.

Was it ordered online? I wouldn't buy bagged hay. I always order boxed in larger amounts and it's always fresh. If you bought it at a store, take it back there instead of contacting Oxbow. You have no idea how long hay has been on a shelf at a store.

I just get regular timothy hay from Walmart. It is usually very nice and fresh looking.

Hay is usually not worth ordering unless you get a bigger size than what is sold in stores. I have yet to see a decent bag of Oxbow, but many on this site say when you order the big box it's good quality. If you are going to the store to get hay, ignore the brand. Get the bag that looks the best on the inside, not on the package.

Nice lol! I always check my hay. I have bought two bags of Kaytee Timothy hay, and honestly I have not found an issue with it yet. It is green, smells really fresh, and has little to no weeds in it. I agree with ignoring the brand name and just finding the freshed looking and smelling. As @YourSoJelly pointed out, you can open the bag to check it. Good luck! Glad they fixed the problem!
