    Question Fleece:) What size piece do I need?

    Hello, Ok so I don't have a cage yet but I am starting to buy all the supplies for it and my future guinea pigs So I know that I want to use fleece bedding, but I am not sure on how big a piece I need for a single layer(that goes up the sides) for a 2x4 c&c cage?

    While I am here I was also wondering if I needed to lay down one or two layers of u-haul pad under the fleece?

    Thanks in advance

    Around about 163cm x 92cm, 64" x 36" with enough to go over the sides :-)
    I don't know anything about u-haul though.

    It depends how much you want it to go up the sides, a 2x4 C&C cage is 30"x50".

    The more layers the less it will smell, most people use 2-3 U-haul blankets.

    When mine was a 2x4 I would just ask them to cut me 2 yards of fleece and it worked. I just started using two layers of U-haul under my fleece and it works well.

    2-3 u-haul blankets, I didn't realize that, good to know. Thanks.

    When I had my 2x3 I got 2 yards from Joanne's so that it would go up and over the sides. I now have a 2x4 and it is a great fit. I use 2 layers of u-haul pads but I may buy more and start using a 3rd. I use 4 layers in my loft since both of my pigs do most of their peeing and pooping there.

    A 2x4 C&C is 27"x56", not 30"x50".
    Each grid is 14 inches. And the tray is about an inch narrow on the narrow side.

    @Lovesome piggie
    To cover the cage and the 6" walls, the fleece should be
    27 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 = 51"
    and 56 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 = 80"

    If you buy from fabric store, the bolt is usually 58 - 60 inches wide.
    You can buy 2 1/2 yards, which is 90 inches (allow for some shrinkage)
