Here's the poll to help show the C&C Cage Forum Demographics.

Please DO NOT STATE your actual age in this or any other thread if you are under 18. I do not want children's personal details on the forums.

This is just for fun.

You only get to vote once! But, you still have the 10 minute window to edit your poll responses. Then, it's permanent.

Ideally, you should have 5 items checked.

Yeah, I realized that after the ten minutes passed:rolleyes: . Since the last time I checked, I'm pretty sure I'm still a girl. ;)

Thanks, I fixed the poll count so that we now add up to 100%!

I voted. It's great that almost all of us have adequate cages!

Yikes, I messed up. I voted days ago though, and I put "Planning on one that meets site minimums" and mine definitely meet site minimums, eek, sorry, I have to learn to read thoroughly first.

Ok, I'm a little confused -- I'm not that great with measurements. So, I'm not sure how to go about my cage sizing. I just have my pigs in totes and they LOOK big enough. I'm kind of new to cavies. I have five that I got in March '05. I have the parents who are in seperate totes, the three brothers are together, and the sister is by herself. The brothers have a bigger cage than the others. And, should cages be longer or wider -- or doesn't it matter?

I don't know any totes that are big enough. Try a ruler or yardstick to measure the INSIDE usable dimensions. I'm not sure how that's terribly confusing. You cound the inches (or centimeters) of the length by the width.

Thanks, I measured the outside and they were 30.5"X12" and 19"X12". I didn't think that that was big enough. I'll measure the inside.

No, that's not big enough. The INSIDE needs to be at least 28"x42".

That is way too small. The bigger size you have given us isn't even adequate for one guinea pig.

The sister and parents--> 28" by 42"
The three brothers --> 28" by 70"

These are the sizes that you should be looking at, of course you can fiddle around with them a bit for example, have the brothers cage a square shape instead of rectangular.

What are "totes"? In the UK it's a kind of old-ladies shopping bag with long handles - I suspect they are different in the States...

Or, can you really keep pigs in a shopping bag? Never tried it, don't think they'd be that keen, either, and wouldn't they eat the shopping?

He he, I too thought of those "granny bags". I think totes may be some sort of plastic storage box, not too sure though.

This is an upmarket version of what my Granny had:

I can definitely see a difference!

So if you ARE over 18, you can state your age?

Also, I think here they are like plastic under-bed storage boxes. None have been found that really meet the requirments I don't think. That's hillarious that they're "Granny Bags" In England :)
