    Chirping?

I have Hermione on my chest.., I'm petting her, she's happy... And then all of a sudden she chirped like a bird! I've had Morty over a year and he's never made a noise like that.., what was this?! Did I hurt her somehow? Should I take her to the vet?!

    Re: Chirping?

no one really knows for sure what chirping actually means. most piggy owners never hear it in their lifetime. if anything, i dont think it's anything to worry about

    Re: Chirping?

I have only heard one of my pigs chirp and it woke me up in the middle of the night. It was right after I Star Trek'd their cage. My guess was he was just so happy! I was certainly happy.

    Re: Chirping?

I've had Morty for over a year, but I got both of the girls within the last two months. Morty also wasn't properly taken care of for the majority of his ownership. I stupidly just believed the petstore people before finding this website.

    Re: Chirping?

But, he is now a very spoiled, happy piggie. Thankfully, about 3 months ago, I thought "hmm... that cage looks mighty small for a piggie of Morty's size... but that's the biggest one the petstore had!" So, I started research... and things have been better since.

    Re: Chirping?

Very cool that you have a chirper. My Quinn does it, but only rarely. Thankfully I'd read about it here so I knew what it was. I sure wish they could tell us what it means. She's done it maybe three times, and always in the evening while hanging out in the "living room" part of her cage while I'm cleaning the kitchen area. Maybe she's saying, "Hurry up, get it nice and clean and serve up my night-night veggies!"

! probably exactly that. Hermione was wondering where her morning veggies were, too, I'm sure.

Hermione isn't even a very vocal peeg for the most part. It just kind of came out of nowhere. I've never even heard her purr, yet!

I actually just heard Nala chirp for the first time today! It was one note but she stopped when I walked in.
