I know this probably sounds silly but, on different sites, they all say different things about the same food, and I dont know which to trust. Which fruit and veg do you give to your Guinea Pigs? I want to give them a range of different foods, but to get more of a range, I need to know how it will effect my pigs!

So what foods do you give your Guinea Pigs?
Their main dry food is Wagg.

Thank you!

For fresh food, it's best too look at the nutrition chart or you could do a search as a thread like this was just started a day or so ago.

https://www.guineapigcages.com/foru...y-nutrition-charts-poisonous-plants-list.html

Wagg food looks crap and I would never feed my pigs it....

Wheat, Peas, Oatfeed, Wheatfeed, Toasted Soya, Oats, Flaked Maize, Lucerne, Sunflower Ext., Whole Maize, Vegetable Oil, Apple, Grape, Grass, Syrup, Carob Meal, Minerals, Linseed, (0.4%), Yeast (0.04%).

The first thing listed on the ingredients should be timothy hay which it doesn't have and it has extra added bad food for the piggies...

Dry food should just be plain hay pellets, no seeds, no coloured things, no fruit ect.

(This is what you are feeding? (broken link removed))

Sorry, I'm not much help with dry foods..my pigs don't get any as in NZ we don't have any good brands.

Someone from the UK is best to help with that.

Oxbow pellets are great, my pigs like them and they're vet recommended :)

Im not sure either, Burgess sounds good, so I will see if I can get some of that, and start to introduce it into their Wagg food, and then gradually change over their food. Thank you!

For guinea pigs, just switch the pellets cold turkey.

Oxbow is great but really expensive in the UK I feed burgess excel the orange bag but give them slightly less as it has a little more calcium than oxbow.

The 2 ladypigs I adopted most recently were on wagg food. I tried to do a 50/50 switch over but after 2 days of them picking out the burgess and leaving the wagg I just gave them burgess and binned the wagg.

Apples, grapes, and bananas are my piggies' favorite fruits. Romaine lettuce, carrots, and bell peppers are their favorite veggies. But that's just my pigs!
As for pellets, Oxbow makes amazing pellets. Get Oxbow Cavy Cuisine if they are over 6 months old, and Oxbow Cavy Performance if they are under 6 months old or pregnant.

Yeah Wagg is a bad brand but I'm not sure what's a good brand as I don't currently have guinea pigs.
I used to but can't remember what I fed them.
Google it?
and also check pets at home? and read the ingredients on the back :)
