Little Ron started to bite Bubbles and Bubbles is now rather scared of everything but is getting better.
We had to separate Ron from Rex and Bubbles for or else Bubbles wasn't eating or drinking as he'd just hide away from Ron.

Well Ron got Neutered so I can pair him up with a lone girl who is being surrender next week (I'm waiting till shes out of quarantine, that will mean it's been four weeks since Ron was Neutered last week)

Anyway; This morning I checked on Ron and his Penis is sticking out and not going back in, It was hard and stiff so we dabbed it with some Olive Oil...nothing.

I'm really worried about him, We are waiting for the vets to call back but is there anything I can do in the mean time?

Would a picture help? I'm trying to stay clam.

Post a picture. Do you regularly clean his penis and anal sac?

You may need to flip mr pig over, extrude his penis FULLY, and then take some baby oil and dab it around the base with a q tip.

If there is any dried, hard, white stuff, it's smegma (however it's spelt) and it needs to be cleaned regularly. Something is probably blocking it from going back in. Make sure to put the oil on the shaft as well to help it slide back in.

He is only 7 months old, but yes at least every second week if not every week I clean my boys penis and anal sacs.

That's the thing, It's not coming out fully (even when I try to get it out like I usually do while checking them); we don't have any q tips as I used the last of them on Wednesday for the boys, but not Ron as he got neutered last week so I haven't as I don't want to open it up.

We have wiped all the hard stuff off. It's leaning to one side as well, It keeps leaning over there.

Here are a couple of pictures (The hair is wet because we wiped it):

He is pooing fine if that matters.

ohh. That looks not so good.

Has he been mounting alot?

I know one time I freaked out because felix was like that, and izzy was in heat. He went at it, and then he was fine.

I wouldn't force it out, but use something to really oil it on the outside. He probably has something stuck in there, so it won't come out. It's a tricky situation.

I don't know if it's a vet visit or not, if he's peeing okay then I don't think it's a URI. But I don't know. I'd wait for a mod to chime in or something.

Last week I split my boys cage so rex and bubbles get a 4x4 and Ron gets a 2x4 besides them so he hasn't been mounting anyone. We're in the car on the way to the vet right now

What's his bedding? He may have something like bedding or some hay caught in the sheath, causing it to not want to go back in.

That's VERY true! It could even be a piece of hay!

This happens sometimes with newly neutered males. Usually the penis will go in on its own eventually. I've never had one that didn't retract within a couple of months.

@foggycreekcavy yes we think it is because hes only really just been neutered as the vets saw no hay, bedding or anything that was stuck inside it.

(All my piggies are on fleece btw)

She gave us some liquid, told us to check on it every few hours and if it comes out again (which she thought was highly likely) to rub the liquid on and then push it in.

We took him to the vet just a few minutes after I asked the question. The vet put his penis back in, but then told us it's likely that it'll pop out again so she gave us some liquid jelly stuff to rub on it and told us we have to push it back in.

He is a happy little chappy eating some pear and green bell pepper right now.

You can use K-Y jelly, which is undoubtedly cheaper than what you'd get at the vets. Keep checking, keep it clean (the sheath as well), and cross your fingers that it will go back in. One GL poster had a pig with a chronic problem like that, and the vet wound up putting cross stitches at the end of the sheath to keep it from protruding.

You'll need to keep pushing it back in for a while until it calms down. And I recommend using Coconut Oil rather than anything else. It is safe and a good thing to have on hand for other purposes if you don't already. This note is more for others who read this and have a similar situation.

Good job on you for taking him to the vet!

Yikes. . . Who knew piggy penis was so complicated! Have not had mine long but can honestly say I hope to NEVER have and problems with a piggy pee pee! My only experience with something similar is with dogs. Apparently sometimes if it gets dirty from playing or whatever, it sometimes won't retract. Im those cases it is very important to dip it in water or something to clean off the dirt or whatever is stuck to it so it can retract again. Supposedly, its very bad for it to stay exposed for long as it can "dry out" and get infected or something. Not sure if any of that applies to piggies or not.

Thanks for the post though because even though I have just made a NPPP rule (no piggy penis problems), at least now I know what to do if it
happens. Have my coconut oil and Im ready!

Mods may want to post a warning on this thread to make sure the young piggies don't see the piggy porn contained in this post!!
