    Re: Cultural Background

    I have no idea.
I'm going to work with the clues I have...
My dad's anglican - the church of england... I looked up my name on one of those origin or something sites and my surname is Jewish/English. I have pale skin, red hair, blue eyes (I'm probably the skin cancer target) and I have heaps of freckles.
So, I'm guessing during WW2 someone in my dad's side of the family was an anglican but with my last surname, the Germans must have been on to them so they came to Australia. I'm still wondering how this could be because my grandparents were from Longreach which is right in the centre of Queensland.
Phew...My brain's tired. I'm gonna go flush out this thinking with a bit of TV!

Yay! *waves to all the german speakers here* The word for guinea pig is Meerschweinchen (pronounced Mare-shwine-ken). Try and enjoy. *G*

    Re: Cultural Background

I am mostly american-german but have a lot of different stuff in me too. Too much to list and I don't know it all...

I was wondering in Schindlers List (a movie) are the names in the beggining names from people in the holocoust? I am mostly aiming this at Teria because she lives in Germany, but if you know feel free to anwser.

I think they are but I must admit I haven't watched that movie. I can rent it though, and then I can tell you.

It's Cavia. My boyfriend is dutch. The other word is just a literal translation of the English term (it doesn't make sense when translated). Here's a picture of my two with one of their last presents from our last visit to the Netherlands

At the end of the dvd version, they show the actors walking to Schindler's grave with the actual people or the surviving relatives of those they portrayed. The names listed were those that Oscar Schindler tried to keep out of camps.

I'm everything! Well, not really. Just English, Scottish, Irish, French-Canadian, Polish, Russian, German, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, Dutch, and I think that's it. Not positive though.

I asked Google about that name, and the result is amazing! How can you trace back 1,500 years of ancestry???
