Kalrik-Luna and Clif bars are vegan. Wonderbread is also vegan.

For every one calorie of beef, it took 10 calories of grain to produce, so cows consume 10x more grain to get to the point of slaughter then it takes for ah human to just eat the grain, so ten times the animals die for your slab of corpse then our grains.
Anyway, I'm planning on going fruititarian and only eating organic things when my parents let me, so therefore, that would kill nothing, not even any plants.

I would warn you against a fruititarian diet. They are rarely healthy. I am obviously a big fan of vegetarianism and equally so of the vegan lifestyle, but the fruititarian diet is too restrictive. I believe it does not allow the consumption of anythign that was once living, leaving little more than nuts and fruits that have fallen (not picked) from the tree to eat. They do not consume any vegetable in which a plant was killed to eat it. It is extremely restrictive.

Wonderbread is not made here unfortunately.

Kalrik you are in Michagan. There is a Wonderbread store in your state. How can you not find Wonderbread?

Wonderbread is out of business due to Atkins and whatnot. We have not had wonderbreads in our markets for months now.

https://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=meet_your_meat the meet your meat video, i just saw it, and im going to try to go vegan. Im not sure how hard it will be but Im going to give it a shot, for my health, but mostly for the animals, thats very sick and I wont ever eat meat again, that video showed me just how cruel and EVIL it is when they are... yeah, i dont want to go any further, its too upsetting for me. :'( but i just dont see how people could ever eat meat again after seeing that, im gonna show my parents.

I haven't seen this video myself but it sounds awful. Well done for wanting to turn veggie/vegan both because of the animals & because of your health.

I've been veggie for four or five months now. I was never a big meat fan anyway but I loved chicken....after watching programme which described the horrible things they did to little fluffy chicks I decided I could never eat chicken or any other meat again. I did this for a few weeks to see how I got on & then decided to stop eating fish as well. Now I'm considering turning vegan, but cutting eggs & dairy products out is a really big thing, eventhough there are substitutes around.

I've found that the hardest thing is avoiding foods you wouldn't think had animal products in...I check all labels very carefully now. Even things like toothpaste can have glycerine made from animals in it. After a while I got used to this...don't blame yourself if you slip up though & eat something not suitable, at least you'll know for next time.

Try and turn veggie first and see how you get on then try turning vegan. It does take some time to get used to...at first I would always accidentally ask for meat & then remember I wasn't eating it!! If you do it slowly you're more likely to carry on. Buy a veggie cookbook which will tell you what foods you should be eating to stay healthy.

Eventhough I am veggie and am appalled by programmes I have seen about the mistreatment of animals, I also respect other peoples right to eat meat & do not force my views on them. Instead I try to educate them about being vegetarian because people still seem to think its unhealthy. Also try cooking veggie meals for people if you want them to see why vegetarianism is good...my boyfriend is a butcher and so is a big meat fan, but he also loves my cooking and says he feels much healthier eating veggie food for tea!

Good luck becoming veggie/vegan!

Liz

Well I can tell you that wonderbread as a company is not out of buisness as I just bought some last week. I can believe that they closed down the wonderbread store which sucks. They used to have the best deals there.

Have you tried bigger stores like Meijer's. Sometimes small stores stop carring things due to demand. I just can't see Meijer's dropping something like that.

I still can't belive they don't sell it in Detroit of all places. I didn't peg Michiganers as the mindless trendy type. Can you smuggle it over the state border?

Why don't you go stock up in Windsor? I know they sell it there. I grew up there and have family and friends down there.

You can freeze bread. Buy enough for 6 months and shove it all in the freezer. Besides you can buy more bread in Windsor with your money then you can in the states. And according to your profile you are 19, you can stop at the casino while you are in Windsor. Make it worth your while.

My dad is vegan, so we only eat non dairy bread in this household. I should have mentioned that earlier. I am bummed we can't get wonderbread here anymore, because I like it better than his fifty five grain bread. haha. I didn't believe it when someone told me until I went on a hunt. I couldn't find it!

Well, so long as you have what you need. But remember, Wonderbread is still alive and well in Canada, but a stone throw away from you.

Atkins didn't do well over here. It is illegal to label something as low-carb now. Health Canada says carbs are good for you and you need alot of grains in a day. So Atkins basically died this year.

Yes, I should hop on over to Windsor. GREAT food there. Atkins is dying here thank god. It's funny that labeling something low carb is now illegal. I wish South beach would go away as well.

I think Health Canada didn't want a surge in obesity due to some stupid diet. The goverenment pays for health care here so it was in there best intrest. The damage is still done though. Many people have stuck to the diet and they know how to do it now, without the handy labels.

I have a friend who is anti-hunting/fur yet she still eats animals and is on a semi-atkins diet. I told her that I will never understand her reasoning. I'd rather see somebody put all the work into tracking an animal that has had a good life and still has it's wits about it then see her mow down on something that's been stuck in stinking cage all of it's life with no room to turn about and no fresh air ever.

Some people make me wonder.

Well, not exactly fruititarian, but stuffthat doesn't require the killing of the plants. I would grow cabbage/lettuce, and just pull off a few leaves so the plant would live, and I'd grow green beans, squash, corn, and other veggies that don't require killing the plant, so I would eat vegtables.
