Boundaries in second level?

Do I need a fence around the second level if I get one? I plan to put the second level in a corner.

A second level would need a fence or walls tall enough so the GPs cannot jump it. It's it's higher then 6" from the cage floor it would also need a barrier to keep them from falling off.

Most people build their second levels on top of the main cage grids and use more grids to enclose it. That way there is plenty of light and air flow underneath and it's easier to reach the GPs and to clean.

Are you planning on building a C&C type cage or are you planning on trying to use a petstore bought cage?
