Hey all, I've been on a bit of a hiatus, but I'm back and I've got a bit of a problem. I noticed as I was cleaning the cage today my oldest pig (about 1 1/2 years old) Wally had a bloody eye. I took him out immediately and put him in a different cage. I didn't know if Blizzard caused it. He is about 8 months now, and I'm not sure if they are fighting for dominance but for now they are separated and I've put some eye ointment on Wally. Please give me some advice, thanks :(

could he have scratched it on hay or something in the cage?

A vet check may be a good idea. Eye injuries can be serious.

Thanks, I'm going to make an appointment, but the main thing I'm worried about is putting them back together, they seem irretated at each other

If one is injured, the other may view it as a threat to its safety and therefore act out towards it. So, I would keep them separate until your other is recovered, then introduce them like you would new pigs to gage their reactions to each other. Depending on how they act, you can proceed fast or slowly.

If/when you do put them back together you definitely need to completely clean their cage and buddy bathe them, if you're worried about them fighting.
