Smile Reasons They Are Good Pets?

I have a question for you! Why are guinea pigs good pets? What are the bad things about them? Tell me all the info you've got.

    Thanks.

They are good because they are affectionate.
    They can learn some tricks.
In fact, my Twix was just like a dog. She could push open my room door and when we had our old cages, we told her to go back in and she did... Eventually (when she felt like it).
They love to be held once hey get used to you.
They are very shy animals, most. Twix was outgoing and would wheek louder than some dogs.
    They bite less than hamsters.
    They are adorable.
And lastly, they are good pets because they are guinea-pigs.

    The Good.........The Bad............And The Ugly

They are beautiful......They need quite a bit of Space......They Poop Alot!
They love unconditionally.....They take time to get used to you.....They are picky eaters!
They are entertaining.....They need their cages cleaned often.....The REALLY Poop a LOT!
They are VERY smart.....They will bite when provoked.....They need a special diet!
They cuddle like pro's!......They are -by me- not recommended for small kids....Have I mentioned the Pooping yet?

And well... as Kipsie said.....they are Guinea Pigs!!

Lets put it this way, if you are willing to offer them the Space, the Time, the Devotion they deserve then you will be blessed with a Pet that will be more like a Fuzzy Wuzzy Child than an animal!!

I like mine because of the attitudes they have. It is all about them!!

Plus, mine will talk to me!

Squeak, "The water bottle is empty!"

Squeak! "Did I hear you cutting vegetables?"

You don't have to walk them. But they need floor time.
Vet bills can cost a lot. (it's hard to notice if your piggy if sick when you are just getting used to them. Sometimes people on here can tell you if your guinea pig needs a vet.)
They go through veggies and hay very quickly.
    Pigs are so loving.

The plus side: They are cute. They never fail to be cute. They're docile and generally don't bite. They're soft and cuddly and have a "nice" disposition.

Things to make you reconsider: They are a lot more work than people think they are. They poop a lot. Therefore you need to spot clean their cage every day. Many of them are shy and skittish. Some of them don't like to be held AT ALL and have to be chased in order for you to catch them to cuddle. This sometimes doesn't change with time. They need an unlimited supply of hay (this can get costly- unless you buy it in bulk). They need a LARGE cage AND floor time. Their supplies and cage can take up a lot of room in a home. You MUST get at least two, so they won't be lonely. This doubles costs of vet bills and increases other bills and doubles up the poop too.

Don't get me wrong- I love my guinea pigs very much. But in order to treat them with the respect they deserve, they require time, effort and money. I'm tired of seeing 7-10 guinea pigs online every week on kijiji (it's like craigslist) being given up because people thought that pigs were an easy pet to have but then realized that they couldn't be bothered to care for them properly.

    I'm glad you're investigating!

I love that they talk... and I love how they interact when you have many (I have three girls and a neutered boy).

To be able to enjoy them to their full potential they need a large cage (and large is about to get a whole new meaning for you ) and at least one friend.
