    Some vegetarian snacks?

Hi, I'm having trouble thinking of some good vegetarian snacks my mom could buy at the store.
I used to love yogurt and the occasional chips, but then I learned that yogurt has gelatin and chips are baked in animal fat. This really surprised me so now I pretty much read all the labels on the food we get to make sure there isn't any surprise animal parts.
It's hard now because I don't have a job yet and my parents provide food, but now I need to tell them some stuff to buy at the stores.

    Vegetarian snacks?
Well, right now I finished eating ramen.
The kind that doesnt come in a cup.

You just take out the beef/chicken/whatever flavor and add your own vegitable soup to mix with it. It's not bad.

I think it's vegetarian safe. Not vegan.

Oh, there are also Sour Patch Kids, Sweedish Fish...
    I Can't Believe It's Vegan!

    There's the rest.

You can buy yogurt without gelatin in it look for yogurt that has pectin it instead. Pectin is derived fruit so it is completely vegetarian. I have never heard of chips cooked in animal fat but to cut out the risk buy baked chips. Sunchips are all baked and and Frito lay has a baked line.

I'm not sure which brands are, I read it on a vegan blog I read. I don't really want to risk it.
Do you know the yogurt brands?

It's not too hard to make yogurt yourself, either. I do it all the time. I think more peeps should learn since so many people -- women especially -- make it a point to eat it every day.

Pistachios have to be my favorite vegan snack though, it's not bad to keep things simple sometimes.

    -Hummus and pita bread
-Celery and carrots w/ dressing or peanut butter
-Yogurt w/ fruit/granola and add some flaxseed oil in it for healthy addition ;]
-Trail mix: add your own dried fruit, nuts, and chocolate chips that you like in a big zip-lock bag!

    Re: Some vegetarian snacks?

I like to have a carb and a protein when I snack, but sometimes I skip the protein. I think a lot of Americans think they need tons of protein when they actually need more whole grains, veggies and fruit (but more veggies than fruit). Keep in mind, I am a vegetarian, not vegan:
    -sliced apple with peanut butter
    -walnuts and grapes
-whole grain toast with peanut butter
    -dry cereal/granola
    -grapes and cheese
-Mix equal parts yoghurt and cottage cheese, or a little more of one depending on your preference. Add some honey, fruit spread, crumbled graham crackers, toasted oats, berries, vanilla extract, etc.
-raw veggies/pita bread and hummus/pb/salad dressing
    -dried fruits and nuts

    I could go on forever!

    Re: Some vegetarian snacks?

-Cream cheese on a pita with some chopped veggies (broccoli, carrots, green pepper etc.).
    -Hummus on a pita
-Cut up veggies and almond or apple butter or dressing
-Portion of smoothies (LOVE smoothies, especially green smoothies)
    -Trail mix
    -Fruit
-Yogurt (many vegetarian brands, you just need to read the ingredient list and look for pectin instead of gelatin)
    -Granola
    -Baked chips

You can mix and match many of these things.

    The options are endless!
