I was browsing Craigslist this afternoon when I saw an ad for a guinea pig in a hamster cage for sale. We contacted the lady this afternoon and went to pick her up this evening.

The cage she was in was barely bigger than she was. She had cheap pellets and water, no hidey house, veggies, hay or anything. She didn't even have a name. The lady had bought her in February from a breeder at a flea market. She was four weeks old then, so she should be about three months old now. The woman said her daughter was scared because the pig jumped in her little cage too much. We couldn't leave her in those conditions so we brought her home with us.

She is in quarantine for the next three weeks then we are going to introduce her to Lucy and Petal after we expand the cage.

So... Meet the newly named Angie:





I am trying to figure out which breeds she is a cross between. She has short hair until you get halfway down her back then it's long... Either way she's a cutie.

This is exactly why I don't look at adoption ads! I'd have to build more cage!!!

The woman said her daughter was scared because the pig jumped in her little cage too much.

How sad. The little girl was scared of the pig 'popcorning'.

I can't look at ads either. The four I have right now are more than I can handle right now so there is no way I could get anymore. Plus they are all boys.

The little girl was fourteen and scared of a guinea pig popcorning. She comes out and runs laps in her quarantine cage everytime I walk into our bedroom and open the cage.

Her pigloo is bigger than the cage they had her in. Don't know if I can post this, if not remove it, but it was this cage...

Omigod, that's absolutely horrifying! I used to have hamsters and their cages were so small, just big enough for the itty bitty hamster. Then to know that that's what was used to house a GUINEA PIG? It's disgusting! Angie is so beautiful and I'm so happy that she found a great home with you

A 14 year old girl affraid of a pig popcorning? I was expecting a FOUR year old. That's a little strange sounding, I'm super glad you were able to take this piggy in! It's crazy that pig actually managed to popcorn in that, without hurting itself.

I agree with Hurley, that cage looks terribley horrifying! I mean come on, pet store cages for guinea pigs are ridiculous the way it is, but a hampers cage like that? Sheesh.

Update: Angie is doing amazing. She thinks that the big pet store cage we have her in for quarantine is piggie heaven. I can't wait to see her in the expanded C&C. She is eating veggies & hay and even wheeks for them when we come in the room. Actually, she wheeks and popcorns when we come in the room.

She is an absolute doll. We think she may be the most comfortable around humans of all the pigs we have. Lucy & Petal have their moments, but she is all human all the time.
