Hi, I don't know if this is the right place to post this for sure but i need some help. I was clipping my guinea pig's nail and i cut the to far. so know it is bleeding and i can't get it to stop. Is there anything i can use to stop the blood? thank you!

A styptic pencil if you have it, cornstarch if you don't.

I don't have any styptic pencil, so i will try the cornstarch. Thank you!

A styptic pencil, corn starch, flour and lastly direct pressure till it stops.

It still seems to be bleeding alot...

OK, the bleeding stop. I there anything else i should do? Like make sure it doesn't start bleeding again or make sure to keep there cage clean so that there isn't any infection?

If it was bleeding that much I would keep the cage clean as possible for a week or so until the nail has a chance to heal up. Also keep an eye on the foot and toe for any swelling.

My neighbor is an animal groomer of 30 years, figuring her advice on dog nails would apply to piggies as well. I am lucky that she comes over and helps me with the piggies and doggy nails once a month for free :D

I just checked the nail, and it is bleeding agian. I don't know what i am going to do...

You may need to use more flour. Be liberal about it and push it gently in the nail to seal it. Keep an eye on it and if it starts again put more flour. Is there someone that can get some stypic powder for you? It may work better if the flour doesnt work after about 5-10 mins.
