Usually an impulse buy or they realize how much work it is, or they are bored of them and want a puppy. Pet store fault again.

I'd have to say its not completely the pet stores fault. Although I am completely against stores selling pets and have started a facebook group to bring awareness to the issue as well as started writing many letter of complaint. If a person is buying a pet on impulse that is their fault as well. The pet store may support that impulse buy but the person should know better than to suddenly purchase an animal just because it looks cute in a shop window.

In this case the pet stores are analogous to the drug pushers, and the customers to the drug users. The drug here is instant gratification by means of living beings, with virtually no thought about full commitment to the being they gratified themselves with.
