I rescued Lily 3.5 years ago from a Facebook post from someone who asked if guinea pigs could be released in to the woods (?!?!). I left work early to drive 90 minutes to get her and the rest is history. She was able to handle the transition to solo pig to one of four pretty easily but I always joked she probably spoke a different dialect of guinea pig because Kaylor, Pumpkin, and Momo did not understand her cries for them to respect her personal space. had no idea she was sickly at all, I was keeping a super close eye on them because another pig of mine is battling a super tough UTI right now. So I am doing OK. I know there is nothing I could have done to prevent this but part of me keeps asking myself if I missed something. I am happy she seemed to pass quickly and painlessly, but sad she isn't here anymore. Just wanted to share here because a lot of people don't understand how much you can love pets especially pets that are not cats and dogs.

here is my tribute from my guinea pig Instagram account lol :
my sweet, sweet Lily puff. Lily passed away unexpected overnight, which is such a Lily thing to do... just quietly lay down forever with no fanfare. She's a real one for saving me a $500 vet bill. I never knew she was sick or that anything was wrong because the (broken link removed) sign for guinea pigs not feeling well is weight loss and Lily was... well... extremely thicc no matter what I did to try to help her get that summer body she always wanted.
We got Lily from a random Facebook post over 3 years ago, catfished by pictures of a super tiny guinea pig, only to be greeted by 3 pounds of attitude and laziness. Over the years she has provided us with a lot of laughs by always looking terrified and finding unique ways to manage to eat and drink while still laying down. Despite being a solo pig for the beginning of her life, she learned to get along with Kaylor, Pumpkin, and Momo, who she had a unique bond up until Momo's passing in 2020.
Lily, Lily Billy, Lily Puff, thank you for all the great times over these past 3 years, love you always &(broken link removed) 29402;

Lily is such an adorable little girl. I can see so much personality in her sweet little face......it reminds me pigs I have had in the past.

There are no words that will make her loss feel better. The hole they leave in your heart when they are gone just can't be filled.

I can see in her face that she was so loved, and she loved you so much in return. That love will keep her and comfort her at the Rainbow Bridge, as she meets all sorts of new furry little friends. There will come a day when it is time for you to meet her there again, and you and all of her cagemates will be reunited.

Rest in love and peace, Lily. I am so very sorry for your loss.
