Hello, we have 4 guinea pigs and we are about to introduce 2 skinny pig babies to the group. We are making them a brand new cage for after the introductions and we were planning on it being 2x7. This is big enough for 6 females right?

I'm sure you are going to get differing opinions but I feel a 2X7 is too small for 6 guinea pigs. I have my two girls in a 2X6 and often worry that it might be too small. If I had longer arms I would like to make it a 3X6 but I wouldn't be able to reach across it to clean. Are you able to enlarge it and make it a 3X7?

I tend to overkill, but I have two boars in a 4X7. I can actually sit in it with them with no trouble

I would say a 2x7 is a great size for 4 adult pigs. I would definitely try to size up before the new pigs become adults.

No, it's not large enough for six. You'd need at least a 3x6 or a 2x9.

We were able to make it one cube larger and now it is 2 by 8. Do you think we need to add an upper part? we cannot go any larger than what we have currently done.

Those are minimums, and bare minimums, at that. You need to go up at least one size above what that site recommends for pigs.

I would add an upper floor with 2 ramps. Make sure it is big enough that no one gets trapped, so at least a 2x2, but bigger is better.

I have found that as long as the bottom floor is adequate size, an upper floor is amazingly effective at adding to the peace within the cage because pigs can have some "alone time" out of sight of others.
