I've heard it's possible for guinea pigs to be allergic themselves to timothy hay....but what about orchard grass hay?
I've been getting oxbow orchard grass/timothy mix for Friar Tuck since he got sick, and he's doing great with it. I'd been mixing it with Robin Hood's straight timothy for about a week. A few days ago, Robin Hood sneezed, and had a white booger coming out one side of his nose. The next day he sneezed twice again, but just had a slightly wet nose, no real boogers. Both times he had been eating and snuffling in the hay.
Of course it freaked me out a little because of uri concerns, especially since I got him as a baby with a mild uri issue. I stopped giving him any orchard grass and we cleaned out his cage well, and for the last two days he's had no more sneezes (and acting 100% normal in every other way!) So it really seems to be the orchard grass ... thoughts?
