    Boar Weight Comparison

    Hi Cavy Friends!

I adopted two sweet boars about 6 months ago from a horrible hoarding situation. They are both happy and healthy, but my smaller boar has been slowly gaining weight at a quicker rate than the larger one. They have now pretty much plateaued and are maintaining their weight. My little Nash still looks significantly smaller than his "big brother", but eats like a banshee and weighs more. Does anyone else have a piggie that looks smaller in stature, but actually weighs more than a cage mate?

    Nash (Black and White): 1243g
    Austin (Tan): 1167g

    Re: Boar Weight Comparison

Your weights are right in line with normal, healthy boars. Every piggie is different, just like people and body type and weight are no exception.

I have ALWAYS had larger boars. They just turned out that way. Every single boar I've had up until one of my current ones, has been 1400 grams or higher. Punkin at one point tipped the scales briefly at 1600 grams.

Right now I have two boars, Leo and Simon. Leo came to live with me at a weight of 1267 grams back in December, and is now 1465. Simon, who is currently ill, came to me at the end of May at 967 and has gone as high as 1030, currently at 990.

It sounds to me as if your boys are just as happy and healthy as they can be.
