    KMS Pellets and COVID-19

Hi everyone, I put in my semi-yearly order for KMS pellets and got a notification that due to COVID-19 they are experiencing shortages and slowed down production. This makes perfect sense but I looked on their site and couldn't find any updates after March. Has anyone ordered pellets since COVID-19 hit? And if so how long did you have to wait before receiving them? I'm curious how long I'm going to have to wait since I'm running low.

I ordered 10 pounds of KMS pellets recently and thought I would have to wait for weeks but it came very quickly. Unfortunately I don't recall the exact amount of time but can check my credit card bill. In anticipation of the delay, I bought Oxbow pellets as interim measure but it wasn't necessary. Now I have double the amount of pellets that I normally keep on hand.

Good to hear! I couldn't tell from their message whether pellets were shipping out at all right now so I'm glad they were fulfilled pretty fast. I think I have enough on hand to wait a week or two but if they have to go without pellets for a day or two that's fine too. I'll just ramp up the veggies.

I ordered both pellets and hay and they were shipped within two days. The shipping update says that they are due to be delivered on June 27. Since it is now after 8pm, I expect that i'll see them tomorrow.

@spy9doc, Would you be so kind as to let me know what type of hay you ordered and the quality of the hay once it arrives? I'm getting low on the Bluegrass and will soon need to order more. I read on their website that Bluegrass is typically cut in mid-July, so I'm not sure if I should wait a little longer to get the freshly cut hay. The last batch I ordered a few months ago was really beautiful hay but I'm pretty sure they've gone through most that hay already.

Sure.....happy to! I haven't ordered from KMS since before the new ownership and have been using orchard grass first from Sierra Valley Hay (no longer online sales) and subsequently from SPS. I decided to try KMS once again for both pellets and hay as a treat for my boys. I have never bought KMS pellets so this is an experiment. I am eager to return to Bluegrass to see what the quality is like.

I know that hay is usually harvested in late summer, but had no idea it would be July. I believe that I only ordered a small amount of hay with the thought that I would wait for a new crop and order 40lbs. at that time.

Since the hay didn't arrive today, it will likely be Monday. Will let you know.

Mine won't touch any pellets but kms, not even oxbow. I bought 25 lbs for my 1 in feb anticipating supply stuff. 10 lbs is in the closed bucket, the rest in the fridge.

I started using KMS about a month or so ago... everything was fine until I found foil in the pellets this morning from the 10lb bag I recently ordered. I no longer trust KMS and don’t know what brand to go to now.

Tell them. Don't switch. Talk to them first. I've been using kms since 2012. Doesn't mean kms is bad. Sometimes stuff gets accidentally in. I've had cockroach in sps hay. Wasn't on purpose. Just removed it. Call them.

I did call them. They gave me a refund. I think the foil may be throughout the whole batch. No way to be sure. I don’t want my pigs eating foil.

Which is why no matter what brand you always check. Kms makes the freshest pellets in small batches at a time so there is no large batch at a time like other companies have. I would have asked for a free replacement.
