Guinea pig eating coroplast AND binder plastic

Hi, I recently built a bigger litter/kitchen for my two females guinea pigs. One of them LOVES to chew on the coroplast. They have so many chews and even a little house that they can eat. I went ahead and bought some of those plastic edges for clear binders. However, my guinea pig ate it already. It's literally been 1 hour since I put them. Any ideas? I'm scared she'll eat more plastic and get sick, should I take it off?

    Bummer. I'd take it off.

I'm not sure what you could use to protect that edge.

How much are they eating the coroplast? Most pigs will sample it, but very few actually eat much of it.

Binder strips come in different weight plastic. The softer kind like those used on reports are usually subject to being chewed. I use those that are such hard plastic that I have never had a cavy who had an interest in chewing them after the first bite. They are difficult to work with, but once they are in place, they do the job.

I bought mine from a Michael's Craft Store where they were called "poster hangars". I don't know if they still carry them.......search around on the Internet.

Never heard of them. Perhaps they are unique to your area? Can you post a pic?

Not sure why the picture is turned.

Like this, only small enough to fit the coroplast

Fold a strip of fleece over it and use binder clips to keep it in place
