Hi everyone!

I just picked up my first guinea pig after years of not having them.
He is lovely and seems to already be comfortable with us (eats and drinks in front of us, spends time outside his hideout with us nearby etc).

We got him off a local rescue, he has a brother but they started to fight and had to be separated, the rescue lady said that we should still try to get him along with a friend as they do better with company.

I have never introduced piggies before and because of his history I am a bit nervous, do you guys think I should still try and get another piggy in some time and introduce them? Or should I leave him by himself?

Thanks a lot for the help!!

Guinea pigs generally do better with a buddy, but introductions can be tricky. Males also need a lot of space -- at least 10 square feet for a pair, and more is better.

Here are two good resources:

https://www.guinealynx.info/introductions.html (For all you regular GPC readers, this is the "guinea pig bible" that I often refer to. The live-journal site that it has been hosted on isn't being maintained, so Lynx arranged to duplicate the information over at GL. At least I'll be able to remember this URL and not have to look it up every time!)

I got him a bigger cnc cage that should be here on the 1st for that reason. I’m just scared he won’t get along with the new one but I guess I will only know by trying.

I will check out the resources link.

Thanks a lot!
