Chin and Lacey just reached 6 months old, so after a week of giving them half of their usual young guinea pig pellets and half adult pellets I switched to 1/8 cup of adult pellets per day. When I weighed them today, however, I noticed that they had each lost a 1/2 oz from when I weighed them 10 days ago. This is unusual for them since they have both been gaining weight every week.

Nothing else in their diet has changed, so could this just be because they aren't able to eat unlimited pellets all day anymore? Is it anything to worry about? Thanks.

It's entirely possible, and not just that but the young guinea pig pellets are formulated to help them gain weight. Their weight loss can be considered a similar weight as if they had peed just before you weighed them.

14 grams in 10 days is literally nothing to worry about. Sounds to me like your little ones are coming along nicely.

Thanks for the input! I'll keep feeding and weighing them as usual.
