    Growth on foot

I was trimming my guinea pigs nails today and found a weird growth on it. Thought it might be poop but its not coming off. What do you all think and should I be considered

The pictures are kind of small. Take a look here and see if it looks anything like this: http://www.guinealynx.info/feet.html#spurs

It could be a spur -- they can be different colors. Does it seem to hurt him if you pinch it?

Have you tried cleaning it with a moist cotton bud? (Qtip). My piggy once had something similar, and most of it came off after using a moist cotton bud

    Re: Growth on foot

Well, pulling might hurt, but pinching it with your nails would tell you if there's any feeling in that growth.

Spurs are sort of like softer nails -- there's no feeling in them at all until you get very close to the foot. So if this growth doesn't have any feeling in it, it's much more likely to be a spur. IF she can feel pain in the growth itself, it needs to be seen by a vet. It's not an all-out emergency in that case, but I would't wait too long.
