Hello, I plan on getting Cupcake a new friend (hopefully before 2021!) And I have some questions about quarantining! Do they have to be in separate rooms? Or could I keep them both in opposite sides of the same room?

It depends on where you are getting the new guinea pig from. If it is a reputable rescue then you may be able to skip quarantine or quarantine in the same room. If it is from a more questionable background, for example a private re homing situation where the previous care may not have been that good, then separate rooms for quarantine may be in order (to prevent any potential air-borne diseases spreading)
