They seem to be solid sided, rather than grid or mesh, which is a shame, as one of the main plus points of grids is the ventilation factor.

Yeah those are the ones I ordered and wrote about on page 6. Just a warning, when I ordered the they were the fine mesh ones and she refused to take them back! They are ok though if it is the fine mesh ones you want. Also you can get them cheaper from screwfix! - (broken link removed)

Hi guys, just to let you know I've managed to find some grid cubes at B&Q (Brighton branch) today. I've checked with the barcode found here and the assistant said they are discontinued, BUT he said they may have some left in the warehouse so if I wanted more I could always ask.

Just to let you know, maybe you can ask your local B&Qs to contact their ware houses.

which brighton branch was that and who did you talk to? were they on the shelves, and what price? My local store is looking for me but if they can't find them it'd be worth the daytrip to annother Brighton branch to get them.

Hi! it was the branch in lewes road. Am afraid I picked the last cubes that were there yesterday :( It was at £9.99.

But the guy was very helpful. Don't know his name though. He said that if I wanted more they could order from their warehouse. The Brighton branch's phone is: 01273 679926. There's also a big one in shoreham I think. Maybe they still have, do you want to give them a call? Their phone is 01273 463423. Also the one in Worthing 01903 821104. And the one in eastbourne 01323 509466. Hope this helps..!

ps. Have also pm'd you on another thing.

Not sure if this is any help to anyone but the main B & Q in Hull has plenty of these in, i had to get them brought down onthe pallet because they were stored away , they have 27 boxes of them selling at £9.99 a box. They messed me around a lil with mine so i ended up with 6 boxes at £5 each

They didn't come up on the site when I was looking for them either, but if you ring one of the Warehouse stores and give them the bar-code they should be able to find them for you. I'm pretty sure only the big Warehouse's have them in stock, but I think you can get them bought to a smaller store if you ask.

Will the mesh cubes be strong enough to make another level on my cage?

I haven't personally used the mesh cubes - but I have seen pics o=in the gallery of them used for second levels. I see no reason why they shouldn't be strong enough. Go for it!

I managed to order the cubes from B&Q very easily thanks to the info posted here. They are still selling them at 9.99. Who knows how long they'll take to come, but now I just have to wait...

I've just been thinking about all this, and wondering if anyone still has boxes for their cubes with the manufacturer printed on - not Slemcka though.

I phoned Slemcka, out of curiosity, the other day and they said that they're not currently supplying their cubes to anyone, but are looking to get them into more shops around November time (so look out for them around christmas!). They also don't have any in stock because they're not supplying to anyone.

I thought that maybe some of the other manufacturers / suppliers could be contacted, to see who they are supplying to at the moment, or even if they would be willing to supply to an individual.

I'm sure if they would only supply a pallet-load at a time then the money could be raised by all the people wanting cubes and then it could be sorted out to get them to everyone - if B&Q can afford to sell them for £9.99 then the trade price couldn't be THAT much, so that would allow for postage costs etc.

Just throwing the idea out there, since I know that my search, at least, has been fruitless.

I cant find them anywhere! well apart from online which is way more expensive then I think they are worth just because of postage. I went to B+Q. actually I've been to several B+Qs and looked but they didnt have any and when I asked they said they cant order them for me which seems to be not true as someone (sorry cant remember your name) on here ordered them just today! graa i'm getting annoyed.

I'm going to look online later for the cheapest I can find them for as I really do want poor pablo to have a bigger cage. He's currently in a Nero 2 cage which at the time seemed huge but now its so small! I want to build him a palace!
