    Herd or Not?

Right now I have two intact boars, whom I love dearly. At some point in the future, I'd love to get more pigs. I'd prefer to have a herd of altered males and females, but part of me is uneasy about getting my boys altered when there's a chance that one or both of them might not make it. Not to mention that I don't know if my boys would do ok with adding two females to the cage, as I know altering them won't change their behavior.

What do you guys think? Is it possible for two boars to be altered and happily adjust to having female cage mates, or would starting a separate herd be better?

You can't put multiple boars in with sows. It's one boar per herd. But if you want two herds, you could separate them and give each neutered boar some sows.
