    Loud Wheezing Noise

    Hi all,

I haven't posted anything for a year probably.

I came home tonight and one of our piggies is making strange wheezing sounds.
It just started tonight, I am pretty sure. He was fine in the morning and last night.

I am very worried, and thinking should I take him to the emergency right now?
Or should I wait until tomorrow morning and go to his vet?

He is eating normally. No discharge from the nose.
He had problems with his eye few weeks ago, but we sorted that out with eye drops. He was suspected of having plugged tear duct.

Would this be URI or how does it sound to you?

    Thanks

Mine was doing this too! I kept an eye on him. He could have something in his throat or maybe dust is causing it. I changed the hay and gave him a few hours and he stopped.
If its not dust or something stuck in his throat (like how something might tickle ours and we cough/clear our throat and it still is there), it could be something wrong his heart.
Keep observing him and schedule an appointment if it continues for more than a day.

There's a good chance he's got something stuck in his throat. A good loud cough or two should clear it, but if it persists he should see a vet. I've had a couple of pigs that did that, and both would clear it with a cough or two.

    Thanks for the replies.
He stopped doing it, but it was really intense for a few hours.
We gave him lots of wet green lettuce, and it slowly stopped.

I was able to get his vet on the phone as well and showed the video and she suspected the same (Something stuck in the throat) and that it doesn't sound respiratory.
She was ready to see him tonight if it doesn't improve, but luckily it did.

This little guy really got me worried.
I will watch him over the night, and hopefully it won't come back.

    Re: Loud Wheezing Noise

Mine was doing this one morning last week. Hubby woke me up to tell me she had been making this who-who sound for 2 hours. I made a vet appointment, got dressed, cleaned out the carrier, and was ready to go and she was quiet as a lamb. I think it was a new batch of hay I bought. She was nuzzling in it and probably inhaled some dust. So I cancelled the vet appointment and she’s been fine since.

I didn't need any coffee that morning!
