General Need tips for my first Guinea Pig

Hello,

I found a Guinea Pig on the street in NYC today. Probably someone abandoned it. This cute little one kept coming out of a bush and caught my attention. My wife likes it so I brought it home. Its our first guinea pig. I am thinking to bring it to the Vet tomorrow for a check up. I am going to buy a roomy cage and some guinea food to get started. Any tips for new beginner ? Thanks

First things first. Hay. Get it some hay ASAP. That is by far the most important thing in their diet and should make up 90% of what they eat in a day.

What a lucky piggy to have encountered you! Most small animal Vets don't have expertise with cavies as they specialize in dogs and cats. Find a Vet who treats exotics to care for your piggy.
