    Ate her foot

My son got a guinea pig 2 days ago. Yesterday she started dragging her feet - this morning she appears to have eaten half of one foot. Please help! Vet is most likely closed since itís Sunday.

    Re: Ate her foot

Is there no emergency vet around? It needs to be cleaned, and she needs an oral antibiotic.

Where are you located? City/state, not your address. We might be able to help you find a vet.

She's likely done that either because she's in quite a bit of pain, or because there's no feeling in the foot. So there's some underlying cause for the behavior. Or is there a possibility that another animal has done it? A dog? or a rat?

I would at the very least clean it with Hibiclens, using a spray bottle and sterile water. Be sure to rinse well. See the thread below for a good way to wrap it, but you'll have to keep a very close eye on her to make sure she doesn't eat the wrapping.

Here's a thread from Guinea Lynx about good treatment of a foot wound: http://www.guinealynx.info/forums/vi...+wrap#p2290799
