Cage Is it safe to use a former dog crate as a travel cage?

Hello everyone :)
I'm thinking of using a (former) small dog crate as a travel cage. While I have a plastic carrier for the car, I'd like to use this wire cate to house the piggies on short term trips to my friends' or relatives ' houses. It has wire sides with a hard plastic bottom, and would be a decent size for a few days...

The only problem is, this crate used to belong to my childhood dog, and it's seen a bit of dog urine. While I know dog pee is toxic to cavies, the crate hasn't been used in over four years... So as long as I wipe down the bottom, do you think this will be safe for the pigs?

Thank you so much!
Alison

It'll be fine -- just clean the cage well.

Just watch the size of the spaces between the bars. Some wire crates have decent sized spaces that a guinea pig could get their head stuck in.
