So before you say it is a teeth issue, we know it isn?t. I?ve had him checked by our Guinea pig vet three times already to be sure it wasn?t his teeth.

Anyway, our 6 year old piggie has been drooling off and on for about two months now. His eating behaviors are normal and he drinks enough water. What else could cause drooling other than a mouth issue? The vet and I are both stumped.

It almost certainly has to be a mouth issue, but not necessarily overgrown teeth. Did the vet do an x-ray to check for abscesses or elongated roots?

Is he maintaining his weight?

He did an X-ray. No abscesses or elongated roots. No sores in his mouth either.

His weight is constant

I volunteer with this Guinea pig rescue and my vet sees all of the guinea pigs at this rescue for the last ten years.

When does he drool? All the time or just when he eats?
If it's all the time, perhaps it's muscular. Sounds like something a stroke could cause.

Usually over night. Sometimes after I refill their hay.

Do you see him drooling, or just find his chin wet? We've had a few guinea pigs suspected of drooling by their owners, only to discover that they love playing with the water bottle.

His brother and cage mate did have a stroke last year. I didn?t consider a stroke for patches since he doesn?t have the same symptoms and behavior changes as sweet potato. Could he have had a stroke?

It's a possibility, but there's no real way to know.
