Simethicone Dose, is 0.5ml too high?

I go to an exotics vet and he seems okay, maybe a little stumped by my guinea pig's frequent illnesses and picky eating. The last time we went in because she seemed bloated. The vet didn't seem to put much stock in simethicone but said I could give it anyway. The dose he suggested was 0.5 ml, which is much higher than what it seems like other people have mentioned. I asked the vet about it and he gave some explanation that I can't remember now but I think it was something like it affects animals differently than people. Anyway I just wanted to see if anyone had any information/sources about whether that dose could be harmful. This all took place about a month ago and she's not dead yet (forgive my sarcastic humor, it helps me cope with her "life on the edge"), but I wondered about it for the future.

Too much, IMO. The recommended dose for an infant under 24 pounds is .3 ml, so .5 for a three pound pig seems a bit much. I'd start with .1 ml and see what happens.
