hello
One of my piggies recently passed away, and now my girl, Small, is being kept alone.
She seems pretty ok, maybe not as active without her buddy but she's eating, drinking, and coming over for pets and veggies.
I still do want to get her a new friend, though. I know she'd be happier.
When is the best time to start introducing a new piggy? Should it be soon after the loss of her friend or should I give it some time?
thanks -

Guinea pigs don't grieve like we do, so they don't need time to mourn.

I have always found it to be better for them to introduce them to a new cagemate as soon as possible.

The sooner, the better. She doesn't understand that her friend is gone permanently, she just knows there's not another pig. I'd do it ASAP.

If you can find a good guinea pig rescue near you, you could probably take her in for a "meet and greet" and let her pick her own buddy.

okay, thank you both very much.
I'm fortunate enough to have a guinea pig rescue about a half hour away from my house, so I'll look into taking her for a visit.
