i currently have a 4x4 setup with fleece bottom but the fleece is NOT easy to clean

i?m wondering if there?s other things you could use for the bottom to make it a little easier to clean up??

what are good toys to put in the cage for the piggy?s??

Hello what are you using as the absorbent materiel underneath the fleece?

For enrichment I like boxes cut with holes, grid tunnels covered in fleece, fleece forests, toilet paper rolls (cut length wise filled with hay/veggies) and a giant pile of hay. Granted hay it is not toy but it makes my three happy. I also have ordered them grass chews on Small Pet Select they have really liked.

I keep it pretty simple, there are threads with lots more ideas. https://guineapigcages.com/toys.htm

A C&C cage is a whole lot easier to clean when it's only 2 grids wide.

Re: advice on clean cage

Take a look at the Cages forum, and the cages in the photo galleries. There are thousands of posts that would answer your questions.

It's part of the menu for the website. I don't know what it looks like from a phone, but there should be gears or little boxes of lines or something indicating there's a longer menu.

Re: Coroplast and ramp question

A full sized sheet of coroplast is 48 inches wide by 96 inches long.

A 3x5 cage is 42 inches wide by 70 inches long. You've got 6 inches left over for 2 walls in width, and 26 inches left over for 2 walls in length. You'll have to cut the coroplast somewhere to make it work.

Re: Coroplast and ramp question

For those of you who are new to working with coroplast, may I suggest a handy little tool called the "Coro Claw" which you can easily find online. It helps to avoid the "Oops....I just cut all the way through the coroplast in attempting to score it". Keep in mind that it will only work to cut lengthwise along the flutes, but you will still need to use a razor knife to make the crosswise cuts.

fleece question!!

hi guys so today i?m going to be expanding my c & c cage and trying out the pellets y?all were talking about!!

just one question though, before i put the fleece/blankets on top of the pellets, do I need to do anything to them? (blankets/fleece)

i?m just wondering because my set up right now is JUST blankets. & it is messy & stinky & the absorb lots of pee...

I just want to make sure I do this all right, thank you!

upgrading today!!!

okay so i?m upgrading my c & c cage today.

still undecided on if I want to do a 2x6 or a 3x5. I got a 48x96 coroplast last night & im getting the horse pellets today!!

could anyone give me some advice on how to set up a good cage that will be somewhat easy to clean??

correct me if i?m wrong but, I put the coroplast in, then the pellets, then my fleece / blankets??

btw, i have 4 females :)

Re: upgrading today!!!

I think my pigs prefer a wider space, but personally I find that a 3xAnything cage is so hard to clean, especially if it's elevated and you're short.

I'm just over 5 feet tall and I found it very annoying when I had a wide cage as it was a struggle spot cleaning every day. You may not have that issue though, so it's really personal preference!

And yes, it's your coroplast base, then wood pellets, then fleece on top.

@helennhazel I've merged all your threads

For fleece to work well, you need to wash multiple times with no fabric softener. Once the fleece is ready, it should allow liquid to pass through to the absorbent layer.
See this thread for how to use fleece: https://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/threads/21568-The-Fleece-Project-The-Study

There's another type of fabric I like more than fleece. It's Alova fabric from Joann. It allows liquid to pass through after one wash. The only down side is it doesn't come in cute patterns.
