I've been voraciously reading all the posts regarding wood pellets. I had used wood pellets in the litter boxes (with the guinea and the rabbit), but hadn't thought to line the entire cage. Then I realized today that wood stove pellets are a very seasonal item here in the South. So I ran out and bought ten bags at Lowe's (the third store I went to actually had some in; the others were all out).

I think I'm set until the next winter when they become seasonal again :)

You can also buy them at feed stores -- they're sold as horse stall bedding.

Make sure the ones you got from Lowe's don't have an accelerant added, and that they don't have a strong pine odor.

Great! I'm still using my vetbed and wood pellets combo and I'm still really happy with the smell absorption quality of the pellets and how well the vetbed wicks.
