So I got my guinea pig Bandit about 2 weeks ago and we had recently upgraded his cage bc we now had 2 piggies and needed more space. I had noticed his nose was runny and noticed him starting to sneeze more and more. I had looked up sneezing and things with piggies and it came up wth upper respitory infection, which can be deadly if untreated. So of course I got him into the vet ASAP. The vet checked him and told us he heard a little squeak in his breathing but not every breath and not very prominant. So they took some blood to check his white blood cell count to see if it was normal.

Long story short they said he was his levels were normal and he could be sneezing from stress? That coming from where I got him to the cage at my house and then into the 2nd cage? Idk he said if the symptoms got worse in the next 2 weeks he would check him again wtih no charge.

Im just wondering if anyone else has heard of this? Or expierenced it? I've been watching him for the past few days to make sure hes okay, it hasnt gotten worse or better. I'm just hoping this is an actual thing.

No, it's not. And you need a better vet.

He could be allergic to the hay you're using, or that hay could be dusty. If you can find some different hay, try it and see if it makes a difference.

You need to take him to an exotic vet.
