My first piggy Sammi is 2 years old. She is a sweet but quiet girl. She enjoys her lap time but also likes time to herself. I felt badly that she was alone and wanted to get another female around the same age to introduce her to. A friend of a friend had a pig they got from Petco for their child but the child didn't like the piggy. They said he was a girl so I agreed to take her. I had them separate for two weeks because that's all I had (week one off from work for vacation days and the second week only worked a few hours) I introduced them slowly and the right way and everything was fine. Here and there they'd have some dominance disagreements but I never worried about leaving them together. Yesterday however, Sammi for the first time start squealing. At first I thought she wanted food, she can be a demanding wheeker, even in between meals. But the squealing persisted, so I watched from the corner and saw the second pig whom I had named Molli, mounting Sammi. I immediately put the grid in between them, did some research and discovered Molli is a boy and we renamed him Leonard. I feel extremely bad for not checking beforehand to ensure that he was a she. I'm looking into getting him neutered since he is about 8 months old. I am bringing Sammi's old cage back upstairs for Leonard for the time being. But what else should I do? How will I know if Sammi is pregnant? I love them both but keeping them separate is so disheartening because even though Leonard's only been with us for 3 weeks, they have semi bonded. Leonard dislikes the grid whereas Sammi doesn't mind. I also considered building a second C&C cage for Leonard and adopting another male since he is more social than Sammi. Sorry for the long post. I just feel so lost in this whole situation. Especially as a new piggy mama.
