I am a first time guinea pig owner since February 2017 and I've been seeing people say that you should have your piggy in the most active place in your house. I have a cat and dog also and am afraid if i leave my piggy somewhere other then my room or behind a closed door the cat might try to kill it. But however i do let everyone have access to holding her and playing and petting her. Any advice on what i should do in that situation. I give her at least an half hour to an hour running around on my floor around bed time because I've learned it makes her quieter at night. Also threwout the day i check on her. I got her from a pet store but she was really skidish and isnt really anymore but she doesnt like vegetables or fruit that much anyways to make her eat them more other then taking her main food away? I give her mainly carrots right now because she is picky any way to change that? Once she smells and tries the new vegetables it takes weeks for her to touch it again. I really need alot of tips and advice because i want to have more in the future but i dont want to be iffy or question if its the right thing to do. Can someone please help

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, they're better off in a room with a good bit of activity. For one thing, the more you're around them, the more you're apt to notice early signs of illness. As far as the cat goes, get a lid for the cage. Closet shelving makes an awesome lid, and is strong enough to hold the cat if it decides to observe from above.

Thank you so much for the wuick reply and all the helpful information. I really wanna do the best by my piggy and give her the best life possible. Any recommendations on bedding that is fairly cheap?
