Eyes/Non-crusty Monistat for the eye?

I noticed some white discharge on one of my guinea pig's eyes last week.

I took him to the vet, they cultured the eye and sent him home with tobramycin ophthalmic.

My vet called me today with the results and told me he has a yeast infection in the eye and to purchase monistat.

So now i have the monistat in my hand and my guinea pig on my lap but I feel very nervous about putting a cream in his eye.

Anyone have experience with this?

I haven't had any experience with it, but I wouldn't think it would hurt.
