    Different poops?

Hello there i have a question about one of my girls poops. She is doing a lot of green and more solid poops rather than the dark colored ones. Any ideas?

Are those all fresh? In the photo it looks like they're just dried out, and the dark one is newer.

If they're fresh, they're probably just made up of more hay or a lighter veggie than the darker ones. As long as she's eating and drinking normally and pooping a normal amount, I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes pigs' poops just look different at different times.

They look like that when they are fresh. They don't change much in color. They are more grainy to. She has been pooping like that since Saturday. I will take it as her eating more hay and pellets for now then. Thanks.

It's almost certainly due to what she's eating. Are you feeding her anything different?

No. But her poops were all over the place last week. Small and hard (dehydration) then went very mushy then to this. Made sure I pushed lots of water through her and stopped veggies for a few days. She ate lots and lots of hay and pellets. Then she started these poops. Been giving her her normal peppers, green leaf and a cherry tomato(once a day) and a carrot once a day or every other day. I have always given them these veggies daily. I am now putting the hay on the ground instead of the hay rack which she is now eating more of. She stays in the hay most of the day munching away. Because her digestive system was all over the place my vet told me to give her critical care to help. She is also very skinny so the vet also said critical care will help that to. Vet said it may be her back teeth bothering her and that may be why she is losing weight and poops are all different. So will be taking her back in a couple weeks or so for a check up on that. So it may be just her eating more hay and pellets??

Critical Care is pretty light colored. That may be the cause.

Ok. She wasn't wanting any today so maybe they will change. Do you agree with the critical care to bring her weight up? She is eating like a champ and her poops are not mushy anymore so I feel that is not a necessary way to get her weight up. But then again I have never had this problem before.

    How old is she?

Critical Care is pretty high in calcium, and I wouldn't feed it to an adult pig for any longer than I had to.

It's hard for an adult pig to gain weight, and they do so very slowly. As long as she's making slow progress with weight gain, I wouldn't worry about it.

She is 5. I was never told how long to feed it to her. But honestly I started giving her some oats yesterday and today to try and bring it up. She is really tiny. Is that OK? Should there be another combo or something else I can try?

I'd sprinkle a very few rolled oats on her veggies, but mainly I'd just monitor her. As long as she's not losing, I wouldn't worry. And I definitely wouldn't give her CC to try to fatten her up.

Like how much? I was giving her maybe a quarter cup and she just ate it like that. To much? Or to little?

    Re: Different poops?

Way too much. Oats swell up in the stomach and can cause a blockage. I wouldn't give more than a teaspoon, and that only sprinkled on vegetables so she gets plenty of wet fiber with the oats.

You might also syringe her some water a couple of times a day to make sure things keep moving through her gut.

Yes I have been. Was hoping to get it all sorted before I left on holidays so I didn't have to put that on the lady that will be watching them. Oh well. It is what it is . Thanks again.
