I don't remember who it was, but recently there was a thread where someone had rigged up grids to make a little room within the cage that the entrance was too big for the adult pig to get through, but the baby could enter, and kept the baby's pellets in there so they could be kept together with less stress.

It's true that it's fine to keep the baby in with the adult and feed the adult normally so long as you take the baby out regularly for supplemental feedings, but I respect your trusting the vet. Putting them together and separating them over and over again isn't a good idea, though.
