    Cage dimensions. Is this alright?

I plan on getting 2 more guinea pigs for my one (3 total). As of right now I have a 2 grid by 4 grid which I understand is too small for 3 guinea pigs (correct?). My question is, instead of a 2 by 5 cage(the dimensions reccomended for 3 piggies), is a 3 by 4 alright? Or do they need the extra grid to be lengthwise for more straight running room?

Wider is ok. The recommended size for three pigs is 13+ square feet. My cage for three is about 16 square feet, and it's not a big too big.

I have a 3 by 4 for my 3 boars and gives them the sq footage they require. Just as long as the square footage of the cage meets the requirements for the 3 piggies you will be fine. I just know that males prefer to have a wider cage then longer or at least that's what I was told. I'm actually tempted to either add a loft or expand to a 3x5 maybe but haven't decided yet all the way.

K thx guys. Incidentally, how do you get your guinea pigs to go up ramps to the loft?
