    Hi everyone~

It has been awhile since I've been on here, but I thought I'd drop by and see how everyone is doing.
I hope you and your piggies are all well!

To give a bit of an update on my end, a lot has happened since I was last on here. (I apologize in advance for the really long post!)
The owners of the rescue I was volunteering with and I had a bit of a falling out, which resulted in me losing my fosters that I had been wanting to adopt (squiggle and Casper, if anyone remembers).
We have more recently made amends though, and I found out that squiggle was adopted and Casper is also currently in the process of being adopted. So I'm thankful that they still got their furever homes

About a year after the rescue and I had the falling out, a friend of a friend moved out of state and left their guinea pig with someone who didn't want her. So I took her in with the intention of finding her a good home. Which I thought i did, though several months later I talked to the woman and found out she had passed away for some unknown reason. I was very sad, to say the least..

George was still having issues with his weight constantly fluctuating. I took him to a few different vets and had xrays, bloodwork, stool/urinalysis done but everything came back normal.
Eventually he also developed impaction issues and required daily cleanings.
When I went to clean him out one morning a couple of weeks ago I saw that he was peeing blood. Took him to the vet and had more xrays and bloodwork done.
The xray showed 2 stones; one in each ureter. One was close to his bladder and the other was far away. She gave him pain meds and sub-q fluids (she said to try to flush the one that was closest into his bladder so she could remove it). Though she said the other one would have to be removed by a specialist if it doesn't move at all.

Later that night he stopped eating and I had to force feed him. The next day he seemed better for awhile, then started to decline again. On Monday (the 6th) I got the results for his bloodwork and his BUN was 113. Me and the vet had a realistic talk about his chances of surviving any kind of medical procedure, along with the possibility that it might not even help if his kidneys aren't working properly.
Ultimately I made the decision to have him humanely euthanized later that day. About an hour before our scheduled time to take him there, I walked into the room to get him out for more snuggles and he was in really bad shape. I won't go into detail, but we took him then.
My consolation is that he's not in pain anymore.
The vet did a paw print and I had him cremated. <3

Rigby is as healthy as ever. He misses George, but I've been giving him lots of extra love. Eventually (Maybe a month or so, depending) I plan on trying to bond him with a pair of males at the rescue. Hopefully they'll all get along. *fingers crossed* <3

Thank you! It's been really weird not having him around :/
I'm really hoping Rigby and these two peruvian boys at the rescue (Daryl and Abe) will get along. They are so precious!

On Wednesday I'm going over there to volunteer and they'll be giving me the Midwest habitat cages that were given to them with the boys. I'm hoping to be able to attach at least one of them to the existing 2x5 c&c cage that Rigby is in, so that they'll all have plenty of space.

Welcome back! I'm sorry to hear about George. Stones are so terrible. The potential newbies are very cute, though. I hope everything works out with them.
