I took my two new boars to an exotic pet vet today. She told me that 1 cup of veggies is way too much and would likely cause diarrhea. She said they should mostly eat hay and pellets. I have only been a piggie owner for two and a half weeks. Does this sound right to anyone? Is one cup too much?

If they're young pups, it's too much. That's the recommendation for an adult pig.

But veggies, if they're introduced properly, won't cause diarrhea.

I think your vet needs to be updated on guinea pig care.

Some vets, even exotic vets, are not up to speed on day to day care of guinea pigs. My vet is awesome, but he even recommended putting Tang in the water bottles. I'm pretty sure that advice is from the 80s. Breeders used to do it to give pigs Vitamin C, but the sugar content in Tang makes it completely unsuitable for guinea pigs. Probably not very good for humans for that matter.
