Quick question: Once a boar (in a pair) establishes dominance, can/will the other piggie ever challenge him or is it pretty much a done deal? Do they remain in their roles as long as nothing else changes (ex. New piggie, new cage, etc.)?

It depends on the personality of the other pig. If he's the dominant type, they'll squabble and challenge each other from time to time. Mine do it every time I clean the cage and put them back. They don't fight, but they rumble and reestablish dominance every single time.

Nothing is ever a done deal. One may be dominant for a while, then another will decide it's his/her turn. Rearranging the cage, illness, new phase of the moon, whatever -- all these can set them off.
