Once I move out of my dorm for the final time in two weeks (I'm graduating), I will be getting one or two guinea pigs. I am in between getting the Midwest Cage and the C&C cages. And if I get a C&C cage, I don't know what size I should get? I don't have a lot of space, but I do have space. Let me know your thoughts!

get a C&C cage, and build it yourself. it's cheaper, and if you ever want more than 2 piggies, it's really easy to make it bigger. plus, a Midwest is only big enough for 1 piggy I believe, and pigs do much better in pairs.

you can get grids at KMart, walmart, Fred meyer, basically anywhere.

and you can get coroplast at home Depot (near plexiglass) or lowes

Is a medium C&C cage a good size?

it's okay for 1 piggy, for 2 girls you want at least the large size (2x4). but it'll be cheaper to build yourself, (it cost me $60 to build it myself, with lots of extra grids, it could have been $40 but I wanted to build a cage stand as well)

For two girls, a 2x4 or a 3x3 will work fine. A 3x3 is 1 square larger then the 2x4 and slightly harder to clean on a 2 grid high stand.

IMO, I think boys do better with wider over longer. So a 3x3 or a 3x4 works better.

Definitely go with a C&C. I have two young boars and thought the Midwest would be great. It meets absolute minimum requirements for two guineas but I quickly discovered this cage is not big enough for them. Fleece forests are the way to go though - they provide cover without taking away floor space. It'll do for now but I'm planning to expand within the next few months to a 2x4 with a 2x2 loft. Might not have the room for a 2x5 but we'll see.
